Powerful Beings

Affirmations are simply a means of helping you to awaken your own abilities for manifestation or healing. In the process it is helpful for you to focus on your willingness to release whatever may be preventing you from achieving your desire.

I can hear you now, “how am I able to release whatever may be preventing me from achieving my desires if I don’t know what it/they is/are?” Here’s the thing – I believe on some level you do know, you do possess that awareness, but as soon as you acknowledge it, you own it, and you may be reticent to own it at this point. Well, I am here to tell you there is no better time in your life to own it – than now!

For years I struggled with a nagging voice which told me over and over again I had a drinking problem. The voice went so far as to influence my outward behavior in not so pleasant terms.
It wasn’t until I was ready to own it, that I could release it. I will always, to the day I die and beyond, remember the release I experienced when I spoke these words (for the first time) to my mother… “Ma, I think I have a problem… I think I’m an alcoholic.” In reflection, what was I willing to own? My addiction or my life?

The point is I was willing to release my addiction and in doing so, achieve my desires. Although at the time I lacked the awareness. My affirmation was delivered to me in the form of a Saint Jude novena, which I recited along with my ‘desired outcome’ for nine consecutive days. That was nearly 29 years ago, a time in my life when I had not yet learned about A Course in Miracles, affirmations, or any self-help psychology programs. I did believe in the power of the Saint Jude novena and prayed only for my desires. I did not affirm my fears even though at the time I did not have the awareness that my fears were simply illusions.

It wasn’t until the following month during an AA meeting that I heard the word fear described as false evidence appearing real. Aahh, there is the illusion!

We are powerful beings with the ability to create unlimited positive and healthy outcomes. It takes courage to own your less than desirable behaviors. Once you do, and as soon as you decide to transform them into a behavior which helps you to become a better version of yourself, your world as you knew it changes.

time-2829511_1920You too, can begin in this moment. Think about a situation or behavior which does not serve you and let’s reverse engineer it. For example if you are quick to anger begin to see yourself as responding differently, more patiently, more lovingly. Design your own positive affirmation, such as “I am patient, I am kind, I am forgiving of others and myself. I feel love, I feel peace.”

Repeat your affirmation as often as possible. Experiment with how it feels to let go of the rush of adrenaline which accompanies the feeling of anger. Replace it with the feelings of peace, love, softness.

This is one simple step in a series of many you can take to help a less than ideal situation improve quickly. Who knows – you may even let go of a habit you have been chained to for decades.
