There is no better time than the beginning of a new year to wax sentimental. Sure, we give thought to our loved one’s in spirit each and every day, however, when the season of love and giving comes around thoughts of our loved ones become front and center on our minds.
As you ring in the New Year, ring in old familiar feelings of love, family and connection, and call upon your loved ones in spirit to pay a visit. Because they are usually willing and able to visit on a whim or a prayer or a request, you can call upon them whenever you like. As a matter of fact, most likely they have called upon you more often than you realize or are willing to admit.
I have learned through experience, our loved ones reach out on a regular basis to connect and communicate, but oftentimes run into difficulties because many of you do not know how to receive then. They ‘knock on the door’ but you do not let them in (at least that is what they have shared with me). They wait. (They are patient.) And they wait until connection is made – and believe you me, connection is always made.
They are not only patient, they are persistent, and deliver signs in the form of music (usually a favorite song you shared together), wildlife (they adore cardinals, butterflies, any type of winged wildlife, but do not limit themselves, sometimes appearing as a turtle, or a dog), thoughts (they seem to just pop in at the most auspicious of times) and feelings (melancholia, happiness, love), to name a few.
I receive telephone calls from strangers who tell me they were led to pick up a copy of the Free Bird Times newspaper and read my article. Oftentimes I am told “I don’t know why I am calling you, but here I am” (or words to that effect). I love the stories strangers share with me about never having read this newspaper (the one you are holding in your hand), but they just so happened to have seen it at the library, the laundromat, the local grocery store and felt compelled to pick it up – they saw my column and after reading it, called me. They do not know why.
I will tell you why – your loved ones who had been guiding you were finally able to make that connection. My philosophy has always been if you are reaching out to me for unknown reasons, I must have a message to deliver to you, on behalf of the ‘person’ or ‘people’ who have guided you to me. They gently nudged – you opened the door and welcomed them in. I love that! I love how spirit interacts, connects and communicates.
The New Year is an ideal time to ring in the old! Reach out and touch someone, or better yet, allow yourself to be touched, moved and inspired to open your door. Connect and communicate with your loved ones now and start the year off with companionship, wise counsel and love. Wax sentimental and enjoy each and every minute.
Wishing you Rich Relations and a Happy, Health New Year!
