One cannot help but see the stark differences between our presidential candidates. Our current political arena is replete with opportunities for the American voter. The most glaring opportunity, as I see it, is the choice between love and fear.
The choice is quite simple, I do believe, if one applies a basic principle, the principle I have been applying quite effectively, I might add, over the last few decades.
I am of the belief all humans operate from a place of either love or fear. Love is easy to detect. We all know how a loving person feels, looks and acts. Fear, on the other hand, while simply the absence of love, can be challenging to detect. How does a fearful person feel, look, and act? Let’s take a look at that. Once you recognize the telltale signs, your life will take on new meaning. You will become an emotional environmentalist, saving energy every step of your way.
Picture this, you find yourself in a less than desirable situation. Say, for example, someone has ‘done you wrong’, betrayed you, or attacked your character. Rather than allowing their behavior to knock you off balance, or worse, cause you to think about retaliation, pause and take it in. Their energy is coming toward you – what does it feel like? If it does not feel like love – then it must be fear, the absence of love.
Fear. What is the person afraid of? This can be a loaded question yet, simple to discern. You can feel it. Their vibration exudes their fear. Perhaps they feel threatened, misplaced, unloved or left out?
There is a void you can fill in that moment, if you are inclined to do so. The absence of that which causes them to lash out, is exactly what they need. Understanding. Compassion. Love. Reassurance. Or, you may be inclined to walk away and send them love from a safe distance.
The application of this principle has served me well over the decades. It has helped me wrap my mind around, understand and course-correct many potential conflicts, while diffusing energy and spreading love, compassion and forgiveness. Love is the great elixir. To quote Marianne Williamson, “Light is to darkness what love is to fear; in the presence of one the other disappears.”
From where I stand, we Americans, who choose to exercise our right to vote this November, have an easy decision to make. Love or fear, which will you choose?
