What do you think accounts for the difference between flying and remaining in place, happiness and misery, success and failure, health and illness?
This question does not have a simple answer.
There are a zillion factors that affect our attitudes and vulnerability to include what we have inherited to what we have picked up along the way.
This conversation has been going on for centuries, and general consensus boils down to everything is within our control. To fly, or remain in place, be happy or miserable, achieve success or failure, enjoy good health or not… are choices we make.
While this may not be an easy concept to wrap your mind around, it is not a cause for worry. How you arrived at your present state of emotional and physical health is not important.
What is important is knowing you can shift the balance of power in your favor and take control now.
You must first understand how you set yourself up for this less than ideal state of mind to begin with – how you unconsciously and sometimes consciously undermine or sabotage your own well being.
Until you begin to understand that you possess the power and the possibility to change your mindsets and beliefs, you will continue to repeat the patterns which prevent you from making positive, lasting changes in your life. You will have consciously chosen to dwell within a state of disappointment and dismay, feel ‘less-than’ or unaccomplished, and suffer from your physical ailments which are simply a manifestation of your psychic blocks or ancestral ‘hand-me-downs’.
The good news is there are several steps you can begin to take right now to help you get on the path of flight, happiness, success and good health and it begins with Self Awareness.
Pay attention to your attitudes and behaviors;
- Do you have a tendency to take the easy way out or blame others for your failures?
- Are you constantly under a great deal of stress brought on by poor planning, indecisiveness or unrealistic goals?
- Do you believe that just because ‘this’ is the way you have always done ‘something’ (passed down by a parent, teacher, grandparent) that it’s the only way to do ‘it’?
- Is your creativity crushed because you don’t believe you are capable – so you do not even bother to begin?
- Are feelings of helplessness or hopelessness easily triggered?
Being aware of your actions and behaviors is a good first step.
Make notes.
Do certain situations, people or time of day or month trigger your emotions or automatic responses?
If you don’t already – begin to believe you possess the power to shift your way of thinking.
I love the phrase “fake it until you make it.” I know first-hand that it works – it truly does.
Last but not least, please bear in mind; you have invested a great deal of time learning your ‘less than ideal’ behaviors or negative thoughts. It may take a long time to unlearn them – but take hear, the possibility does exist!
We can deepen and hasten the process by calling forth your ancestors and loved ones in spirit. They will help you to discern the traits which belong to them and no longer serve you. There’s a bonus on top of it all – like the proverbial frosting on the cake – they ‘live’ and love to share their insight. They want to help you build a better future by heeding their past mistakes.
To fly or not to fly – the choice is yours!
